Freezing Garlic
Freezer
I use a lot of garlic in my cooking, usually chopped rather than crushed as most of my recipes that use garlic are cooked in the slow cooker and I find that chopped garlic is easier. My problem is that I frequently find that when I go to use it the cloves have gone soft so, can it be frozen?
The answer is yes, supermarkets sell it in small diced packs but they are too small for me, so this is my solution. Split the bulbs into individual cloves and peel them, they can then be frozen for up to 10 months with no significant loss of flavour and as the cloves are small they are easily chopped for use whilst still frozen.
I tend to use a zip-lock bag for convenience.
