Spiced Braised Pears

Slow Cooker

Very easy with a traditional spiced taste far superior to tinned pears. Any spare will keep in the fridge for several days provided they are in an air-tight container.

2 to 4 servings


  • 3-4 Pears

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar

  • 1 Cup Boiling Water

  • 1 Cinnamon Stick

  • 1 tsp Whole Dried Cloves


  1. Core the pears and cut into quarters (I leave the skin on but you can peel them if you wish), place in the slow cooker

  2. Add the cinnamon stick and cloves

  3. Dissolve the sugar in the water and add to the slow cooker

  4. Cook on low until the pears are tender, this will depend on how firm they were initially but is typically 4-5 hours

  5. Serve immediately with ice cream
