Steamed Chocolate Pudding

Slow Cooker

A nice moist wintery pudding, ideal with ice cream. Comfort food.

  • 4oz butter,

  • 4oz caster sugar

  • 4oz self-raising flour

  • 2oz cocoa powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla essence

  • 2 tbsp milk (see below)


  1. Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl

  2. Add the eggs and beat until mixed

  3. Sieve in the flour and cocoa powder

  4. Add the vanilla essence and mix thoroughly

  5. At this stage I found the mixture a little stiff so mixed in 2 tbsp milk, this is likely to depend on the size of your eggs

  6. Grease a pudding bowl (mine has a diameter of 170mm)

  7. Add the mixture into the bowl.

  8. Place foil on top of the bowl and place in slow cooker.

  9. Fill slow cooker half way with cold water and place a tea towel under the lid to prevent drips

  10. Cook on HIGH for 4 hours

  11. The pudding can then be loosened with a sharp knife before being turned out onto a plate
